Survey Says: The World’s Not as Dangerous as You Think
In fact, figures released today by the Bureau of Justice Statistics show the average American is safer than they have been in years, with violent crime dropping by 39 percent over the last decade and by more than 11 percent between 2008 and 2009 alone. Property crime likewise fell by 29 percent, according to the bureau, which based its findings on interviews with more than 68,000 Americans as part of its yearly National Crime Victimization Survey.
